The Olmstead Loop Trail is a day use area for all hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers. Excellent day use parking for cars and trailers is available behind the fire station in Cool. This is one the state’s most popular recreational areas! The Loop features beautiful views of the Sacramento Valley and the Sierra. Trails adjacent to the Olmstead Loop provide access to the American River Canyon and the Western States Trail.
This area offers a variety of terrain ranging from open grass lands to rugged canyon trails.
