Auburn State Recreation Area was established in 1977 creating 100 miles of multi use trails on the Middle & North Forks of the American River.  Trails leading to China Bar, Overlook Park, Western States Trail (Tevis Cup), Olmstead Loop, No Hands Bridge & much more.


Folsom State Recreation Area is located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills about 25 miles east of Sacramento.  Visitors enjoy water skiing, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, nature studies, camping and picnicking.

South Fork American River, California
The South Fork is a 20 mile river run from Chili Bar to Salmon Falls & is one of the most popular whitewater adventures in California!  Gold was discovered on the South Fork of the American River in California at Sutters Mill in 1849.  Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is a popular stop that brings history to life.  This map features river rapids, campgrounds, The State Park, & hiking trails.  Map is printed on a 22"x22" cotton/washable bandanna.  Would be a great souvenir!!!


Dru Barner Equestrian Park offers 47 camping sites ideal for equestrian use, with water troughs, some pull through spaces & vaulted flush toilets.  Camping & day use fee area.  Varied terrain with vistas, wide fire roads to scenic single track trails.  Excellent parking for cars & trailers at Balderson Station and Meadowbrook Day Use Non fee Staging Areas.

The Olmstead Loop Trail is a day use area for all hikers, equestrians & mountain bikers.  Excellent day use, parking for cars & trailers is available behind the fire station in Cool, CA.  This is one of the state's most popular recreational areas!  The Loop features beautiful views of the Sacramento Valley & the Sierras.  This area offers a variety of terrain ranging from open grasslands to rugged canyon trails.

Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park is a day use area, located in Pilot Hill, CA.  The park contains 12 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and other non-motorized passive activities open daily from sunrise to sunset year round. The park borders South Fork American River, Hwy 49, Pedro Hill Rd & private lands.  The land for this park and river trail corridor was purchase by the American River Conservancy, BLM and other partners.
